Richard Knowles was part of the Science and Complexity forum at Eckerd College's ASPEC program,
particularly leading the sessions around practical leadership application of Complexity in the workplace.
Richard Knowles was a speaker at the ASSE (American Society for Safety Engineers)
Tampa spring regional conference. His well-attended talk was "Partnering for Safety Excellence."
*Women Helping Women…This was the theme of a session led by Claire Knowles at ASPEC (Association of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL) in March. This session underscored how our struggles are lessened and our triumphs are made sweeter by our “relationships with strong women.” Keep on being a Woman who Keeps On Helping Other Women was the resounding call to action.
Participating in "Be The Change Event" with Suzanne Evans in Orlando Florida and also with Stapleton/Stark Mastermind group about the world of marketing and the impact on growing business.

4th Quarter 2011
Our work continued with clients seeking help in both the Safety Leadership arena and in Business Effectiveness. During the 4th quarter Dick and Claire served clients in Virginia, Texas, New York and in Milan, Italy. One was a financial entity seeking more congruence in the workplace; the others were manufacturing or mining sites endeavoring to improve their safety performance.

Richard and Claire Knowles conducted a 5-day session on Safety Leadership and Culture Change with a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, TX. We worked with over 110 employees across all segments of this manufacturing site---using our proprietary Safety Leadership Process.

Creating the game-plan: Claire Knowles, together with colleague Patty Brown of Integrated Business Ventures Inc., completed an Effectiveness Workshop and consultation in the Finger Lakes area of Central NY. The Workshop, strategic in nature, produced the step-by-step actions toward specific goals for the Board of Directors of an Ithaca not-for-profit organization.

Dick Knowles will be participating in DuVersity's Systematics gathering XII in Charles Town, WV, engaging in some deep thinking around the Hyparxis of Systems, or 'what you have forgotten is what you have really understood.' Continued learning is the basis for organizational rejuvenation.

Both Dick and Claire Knowles are presenting at the Association of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College (ASPEC) during March. Dick is presenting in the ASPEC series on Complexity and Decision-Making; Claire is presenting in association with WomenSpeak on the Glow Project.

Dick Knowles completed a trip to Penang, Malaysia (near Kuala Lumpur) where he and Gwen Andrew's joint paper was well-received. “A Practical, East-West Exploration of Leadership and Learning” was noted as a significant contribution to this First International Conference, Exploring Leadership and Learning Theories in Asia, sponsored by Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dick Knowles continued his work travels to Australia during February/March where he worked with several companies in the arenas of Business Leadership & Effectiveness, and in Safety Leadership . The Process Enneagram continues to prove to be a most useful model to help leaders move their respective organizations successfully forward, achieving remarkable results.

Claire Knowles was guest dinner speaker for the Buffalo Niagara Travel Professionals on February 1st. Her talk provided seven different ways that participants can move forward with positivity, balance their stress levels and validate themselves in this crazy world.
Claire Knowles worked with a group of 31 people at a Niagara-area financial institution to lift up what it means to be truly professional---behaviorally, emotionally, and most important---committed to the basic principles on which professionalism is anchored.

This month's travels take Dick Knowles to Washington, DC for discussions on "Organizational Rejuvenation" and to Wilmington, Del to the DuVersity Board Retreat, where he will also be discussing "Organizational Rejuvenation".
Organizational Rejuvenation: This is a 3-fold process which enables an organization to renew itself, to make better and more effective decisions, and to build a more sustainable organization.
Medaille College Connection
Dick Knowles was the instructor for a 7-week course (July/August) in the MBA Program at Medaille College on Organizational Behavior. Dick incorporated many of the things that he and Claire learned in Michael Grinder’s Group Dynamics course last June.
Kuala Lumpur Conference

Group Dynamics
Richard and Claire Knowles completed a 5 day course with Michael Grinder on Group Dynamics,
which will specifically enhance our skills in working with groups--particularly with non-verbal behaviors.
Michael Grinder is an expert in this field and we were privileged to train with him. (As Stephen Covey notes...
it is important to take time to "sharpen the saw". We have gleaned much from this course!).
Teaching at Medaille College
Richard Knowles will be teaching a course in Organizational Behavior and Transformation in the MBA Program at
Medaille College (Amherst Campus) from mid-July until late August. Richard's years of Leadership experience
in the work-world, and in his international consulting, bring deep insights to this class.
Collaboration with Integrated Business Ventures Inc.
Richard and Claire Knowles have teamed up with Patty Brown and Mike Matteson for a Learning Event in Ithaca NY
in late July. The session is geared for Entrepreneurs who are thinking about the future of their business; are wondering what its real value is,
are thinking about developing an exit plan, or are searching for the best strategies to enhance, or build the value of their business, or to
maintain their business during this economic downturn, or to actually sell their business.
Safety Leadership Workshops
Dick and Claire Knowles recently held Safety Leadership Workshops for over 300 people in several manufacturing and construction locations in Australia and New Zealand. The levels of enthusiasm and interest were high with people shifting their focus towards looking at people as they worked and in eliminating unsafe acts. Their injury rates began to go down immediately.
Sustainability Conference
Both Dick and Claire Knowles participated in a Massey University, Auckland, NZ Sustainability Conference at year-end 2009. Dick’s paper, “Leadership, a Key to Our Sustainable Future” was well received by the attendees who quickly grasped the importance of the leadership approach presented by Dick in his paper. The broad participation of their organizations was seen as extremely important in building a credible sustainability effort. Those companies who involve their people are much less likely to be seen as just “green washing” (all talk and little real progress) in their sustainability efforts.
What Are You Worth?
The above question was recently posed by Claire Knowles at Eckerd College’s Program for Experienced Learning (adult learners striving for undergraduate degrees) in a conference sponsored by this St. Petersburg FL College on “Gender Wage Equity”. Claire’s focus was just what the attendees wanted to learn about—she’s been invited back to present this again (three times)!
